de cabeza es un colectivo de curaduría artística.
Nuestro trabajo oscila entre la producción y la investigación de exposiciones prototipos, eventos, obras y experiencias artísticas y culturales. Asumimos nuestra práctica con una actitud abierta y flexible; operamos como gestores, mediadores, interpretadores y facilitadores. Consideramos el éxito y el fracaso como motores y herramientas de producción, comunicación e investigación.
Trabajamos dentro y fuera de las instituciones, en la intersección de problemáticas; en el espacio de la acción colectiva y la co-creación.
Creemos que el arte no puede existir sin audiencia. Por eso, entendemos la curaduría como una práctica que mantiene el balance y garantiza tensiones productivas entre obra, artista, público y contexto.
Catalina Acosta Carrizosa es una curadora independiente radicada en New York. Es egresada de la doble maestría en Administración de las Artes y Políticas Culturales e Historia, Teoría y Crítica del Arte Moderno del School of the Art Institute de Chicago.
Catalina ha trabajado como Asistente de Investigación en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York (2015-2016) y también como asistente de curaduría en las Sullivan Galleries del School of the Art Institute de Chicago. Ha sido pasante en Contemporary Art Daily en Chicago y la Peggy Guggeheim Collection en Venecia. Actualmente dirige los proyectos de legado de artista y está a cargo del manejo de varias colecciones privadas en Sokoloff + Associates, NY.

Jerónimo Duarte Riascos es Ph.D de la Universidad de Harvard y Profesor Visitante de Northwestern University en Chicago. Por tres años fue el C-MAP Fellow en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York. Su investigación establece diálogos entre la literatura latinoamericana contemporánea y las artes visuales de la misma región y periodo. Una línea importante de su trabajo tiene que ver con el diseño de iniciativas curatoriales y la socialización de prácticas artísticas, que incluyan textos literarios y consigan sacar las obras de la institución e insertarlas en la comunidad.

Our work alternates between research and the production of art exhibitions, prototypes, events, art pieces, and wider cultural and artistic experiences. We imagine our practice as one that is open and flexible, yet rigorous. As agents, mediators, catalysts, interpreters and facilitators we approach both success and failure as the impetus for and the essential tools of creativity, production, communication and exploration.
We work with and within institutional and alternative spaces, at the intersection of common problems and interests—where collective action and co-creation occur.
We strongly believe that there is no art without an audience. Consequently, we understand curation as a means of communication that simultaneously nurtures balance and productive tensions between artists, artworks, audiences, and sociopolitical contexts.
Catalina Acosta-Carrizosa is a New York-based independent curator. She holds a dual MA in Arts Administration and Policy, and Modern Art History, Theory, and Criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2015).
Catalina has served as a Research Assistant at MoMA for the Torres-García exhibition (2015-2016), as a curatorial assistant at Sullivan Galleries at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2012-2014), and interned at Contemporary Art Daily in Chicago, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Currently she´s head of Artist Legacy projects and collection manager at Sokoloff + Associates in NY.

Jerónimo Duarte Riascos is PhD in Spanish and Latin American Literatures and Visual Studies from Harvard University and Assistant Professor of Latin American and Iberian cultures at Columbia University. He holds a B.A. in Law and Literature, an M.A. in Literature and Modern and Contemporary Art History and Theory from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, and an M.A. in Romance Languages and Literatures from Harvard University. He has worked as an editor, curator, researcher and teacher, and C-MAP (Contemporary and Modern Art Perspectives) Fellow for Latin America at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and most recently as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Northwestern University.
His research cultivates dialogues between Contemporary Latin American Visual Arts and Literatures. His work produces projects deeply rooted in pertinent academic research that encourage conversations between both scholarly and non-scholarly audiences, and that present artistic practices as communal experiences rather than as inaccessible objects.
